Is The Rut Here?

Postby dcamacho13 » Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:07 pm

I went out to Iroquois county this week and have found some scrapes and rubs, but calling was ineffective. How has deer movement been for you all? I'm planning on using a doe decoy and some estrous this weekend, just don't know if it is too early or not. I feel like it's taking FOREVER!!!

Does here arent in heat yet. Bucks are cruising and looking and running all day. Good time for a doe decoy with some "in heat" scent thats quality. One Night Stand from Kaatz Brothers Lure works goods for us this time of year. If you saved urine and glands from deer last year it will shine right now too. We're passing up alot of 2 1/2yr olds right now. Set up on a scrape line or one or two nice and active breeding scrapes and your odds are good. I passed a 140class 2 1/2 yr old this morning at 11am that was running a scrape line that parallels a field edge. 8 days after the upcoming full moon the majority of does will come into heat.

So far ive had nothing, and this isnt a place that usally doesnt have deer movement they are everywhere for the most part. The only deer ive seen is 2 does being pushed by a little broken off unicorn buck. I should at least see some sort of thing to know they are there they tore up the area all around me last year. Is it possible that the warmer wether has moved the rut back a little bit?

That's what I'm thinking. However, we have a chance of rain Friday and Saturday along with a cold front. Temps should be in the low 50's, which should help.

I know it is now found a huge 13 pointer hit on the road dead with one drop tine. Shame thats how he had to go but i'm lucky I got to see him.
