I was out to Il last year and hunted with an outfitter, I'm looking this yr to head back out, but on my own. I see there is some public hunting land around the kampsville area, does anyone know where I can get a decent layout of the public hunting lands? Also being from Pa I cannot legally bring a whole deer back without butchering it first. does anyone know of a cabin or house that can be used a lodging for about a week's time?

Illinois DNR site has maps of all the public hunting ground and contact numbers. Better get busy, the gun drawings for non-residents are coming up and the archery tags are limited too and I think they draw June or July 1st. You might be able to find a house etc to rent for a short time if you go to the Pike press website or order a paper or two? I read a Press few weeks ago and there was several ad's for guys wanting hunting leases and guys that had houses/cabins for rent by the week. God luck, public ground here gets really crowded closer to November you hunt it. Tag prices increased too so it'll cost you more for them now too. Last I knew you could buy archery antlerless tags over the counter.
