LOOSE HOGS :)

Postby been;there;shot;that » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:18 am

As of about 8 months ago, a local game ranch down the road had a few hogs get loose!!! The DNR wants them all eliminated (plus for us.....good eats!!!!!) and says as long as you have a valid Michigan Hunting liscense(any game), they are legal game. So far my family have not seen any, but 3 or 4 have been killed within 1 sq. mile of my house. My buddy has killed two pigs, a 250 and 275 pounder while deer hunting, with a bow....and the best part he's only 14.Hope for my chance to soon come!!!!!! :D :D :D
Criticize all you want...but we all live for something - Hunting just happens to be mine.

CRO:

I didn't realize you were from Lafayette. I'm from Houma. Small world, aye? Anyway, I had a pretty fun season, but I still haven't killed any hogs. I killed a fallow deer in Texas and shot at a small hog with a bow (the first one I've every seen in the wild), and hit it in the leg. They found it a week later and finished it off. I would like to kill a hog. I've got a whitetail, a fallow buck on my wall, and a white fallow doe with a bow. Now, it's time to get a hog! They have places around here infested with them, but it's all private land. You have any suggestions of where I could go on some public land near here? I'm only about 1hr and 45 minutes from you, so if you know of any good public land nearby, please give me the scoop. I'd really appreciate it!

i know that alot of guys hunt the PEARL RIVER AREA and do very well. I don't think you need any dogs to hunt successful over there. I will see if i can find more info to get you on a hog.

Thanks, man. I'd really appreciate it! I just got my new Fred Bear 32, a dozen Easton Epics, new Whisker Biscuit, paper tuned it, and now I need 125 gr. broadheads instead of the 6 100gr tips that I bought! I'd like to take a hog with my bow, but for my 1st real hog hunt, I'll probably take the widowmaker- .308 Winchester.
