Low Hit tonight

Postby cocowheats » Mon Oct 04, 2010 9:38 pm

Ok, so i hit an eight pointer tonite but the shoot was really low. I found a good amount of blood on the trail he walked off on. Places which he stopped had decent amounts with some pink fleshy like material. Can anybody tell me what they believe this is. I decided to back out and wait till morning but i'm unsure if this is lung blood or gutshot blood, or maybe just a graze? I was unable to find the arrow. Any thoughts could make my nite sleep better. Thanks

Bright red usually indicates muscle you could have tore a large muscle but if you still have blood i wouldnt be discouraged i hope he falls befor he bleeds out best of luck

Ground or stand? From the ground if you were low around the lungs you may have got both but from a stand maybe one? Pink material sure sounds like lung damage. Hope its cool enough for the meat there. Start where you shot in the morning and retrack in case you missed something. At the last blood, mark it good and start doing circles. Last resort watch for scavenger birds, here its blackbirds and crows for the first day. Are deer recovery dogs legal there? We have several here and for a small fee $20-$40 they recover probably 99.9999% of the deer they take in after. GOOD LUCK, been there done that.

i agree. soft pink tissue SHOULD be lung. if it is a lung shot, the blood will even have a lighter tint to it cuz its the most oxygen rich blood. let us know what you find out!
