well i have a newer tc black diamond. when i bought it brand new it fired just fine. i cleaned and stored it. today i took it out, loaded, pulled trigger and nothing! i use 209 winchester primer and 2 hodgdon 50/50 pellets. it appears that the primer goes off but when i made the gun safe and examined the powder it was still entact. i tried 2 more times....nothing, same result. i did keep the primer and powder in my garage. i was wondering if moisture got to the primer or pellets. any advice at all?

well. i think i answered my own question. i bought some new primers and pellets and she fired just like new. so i think the old pellets got moisture in them while in the garage over summer. i will keep them elsewhere.

make sure if your rifle has a removeable breech plug that the passage twixt the primer and the powder charge is very clean and unobstructed. i like to clean mine out with a guitar string.ive kept some pyrodex pellets and sum 777 pellets in my garage for a couple years and they seem to fire fine. but it may depend on humidity etc in your area.

Maybe if you have a food saver 'vacuum' machine you could put your left over pellets each season in a bag and vacume seal them.

Primers can stay good for a very long time, I reload 12gauge shotgun and use Winchester 209's and Wincheste AA hulls in my reloads for dove, quail and pheasant loads and the primers have still been good years later so unless they sat in water I wouldn't think them as the issue.

Bowhunters beat me to it, I was going to say use the vacuum sealer as well.
