Missouri Buck gets some payback

Postby Bowhunters » Wed Dec 03, 2008 10:12 pm

Kind of funny story, just goes to show you need to always approach any downed big game from a safe direction so you won't get kicked or run over if they get back up, always touch the eye of the deer, elk, bear, etc. with an arrow, gun barrel, long stick, etc. to make sure it is in fact dead and not playing possum.

SEDALIA, Mo. – A hunter bagged a big buck on the second day of firearms season, but the kill caused him a lot of pain. Randy Goodman, 49, said he thought two well-placed shots with his .270-caliber rifle had killed the buck on Nov. 19. Goodman said the deer looked dead to him, but seconds later the nine-point, 240-pound animal came to life.

The buck rose up, knocked Goodman down and attacked him with his antlers in what the veteran hunter called "15 seconds of hell." The deer ran a short distance and went down, and died after Goodman fired two more shots.

Soon Goodman started feeling dizzy and noticed his vest was soaked in blood.

So he reached his truck and drove to a hospital, where he received seven staples in his scalp and was treated for a slight concussion and bruises.

in southern missouri, my dad had one down, poked it in the eye and everything and it didnt move, so he started to cut the throat to let it bleed out, and as soon as he started cutting, it reared up, broke my dads nose, and took off, he fired 5 more times, hit him each time. and each time rolled back down the hill.

after the 5th shot dad walked over to where the deer rolled to and the buck was gone. and dads not the only thats shot this same buck several times.
