Moose pop

Postby GILLY » Sun Nov 07, 2004 9:47 am

Where I live is open for draw, residents only. I have seen a lot of moose this spring after a rather hard winter. The tick infestation 2 years ago was hard but I think there are more that scraped by than were lost. I have also seen quite a few moose being brought to our local gamecutter. I'm not a wildlife biologist, but I think that maybe a year or two of light hunting presssure will have things back in order. Just to give you an idea, this was the first summer w/o drought. The feilds are full of lush healthy feed and the elk I shot in Sep, was fat and very healthy.......and scrumptious too  . Yesturday I was muzzleloading for white tail and a I jumped a cow moose, she was fat and thick and her fur was dark and shiny...........to me she looked quite healthy. :P

Hope this helps

I have seen quite a few healthy looking moose this fall, and lots of cows with calves so I think the moose are making their comeback
