Muzzleloader question in va

I was told when shot gun season come in I can use my muzzleloader. I dont have a muzzleloader license. But I do have my small/ big game license. Wanna make sure b4 I go out there and and do it. Thanks to all

It's my understanding that you can continue to use your smokepole anywhere you can use a rife. I'd also think you would have to have a muzzleloader permit. Give the DGIF a quick call, they will tell you "for sure" what you can and can't do!

The only time that you need a muzzleloader license is during the muzzleloader season. If you are using a muzzleloader during modern firearms season you do not need the extra license. It is the same for archery, you only need that license during archery season not during firearms season.

Thanks so much. I wanted to make sure b4 I went out. Going hunting in the morning first day of shotgun here. Gonna use my new slug gun my wifey bought me. Gotta love boy toys. Wish me luck!!! And good luck to all out there.

just one thing to add...this applies to the eastern region anyway, during the general firearms season, bow, muzzleloader and shotgun/rifle may be used.
