My fall plot is in!

Got questions about what to grow and when to grow it? This is the place to ask.

My fall plot is in!

Postby NYBuckhunter » Tue Aug 25, 2009 7:45 am

Yesterday I planted my fall plot with a mix of brassica, clover and chikory. I used rock rakes and lots of elbow grease to loosen up the soil and then spread the seed and rolled it all in. Maybe some of my beans and peas will have survived it, but if not, no biggie. Hopefully it will come in good. I used all Whitetail Institute seed, which worked great last year for me. I just decided to do my own custom mix this year rather than use their mix like I did last year.

I used Secret Spot last year, and it grew pretty good. I was over to change the batteries in my cam last week and the plot is growing extremely well now. The deer have gone through and eaten all of the dying bean and pea plants that didnt recover from being rolled over, plus they are eating the shoots from the plants that did. I am going to go over and swap out the memory card tonight, hopefully some good pics on there.

I just planted Tecomate Monster Mix in Northern Texas. I also threw out some bob oats. The deer seem to love those oats. I'll keep ya'll updated on the progress. We just planted them this weekend.
