My Favorite Story To Tell

I was living in Los Angeles and I had not been hunting in about a year. So I decide to take a trip to my mother's house to do some hunting there with her husband (they live in north Idaho). My step-father had a few friends there already, and they had already taken a trip every day they had been there so far (about 6 days) and had seen no deer whatsoever (very rare in that part of Idaho). So when I get there I say to them we will take a trip with me and probably see a deer within a mile of our walk in. These guys were like "yea right, we have been here a week and haven't seen a thing". And I was kind of worried that I had spent around $1700 to get all my equipment up there and the plane ticket for nothing. So the next morning we get up around 4:30 and get ready. I am still a little worried about them not seeing any deer at all. We pack the truck take the trip down and start walking towards the area we are going to start to hunt. The area that we hunt is a hilly area that has a few areas of thick brush. We have just walked aroung the first hill and we are in a small valley. Just under us is a thick area of small trees and brush. We see an adult doe run up the hill in front of us so we continue to walk the edge of the valley (between us is hill and brush). After we walk by the area where the doe had ran up the hill we decide to take a break on a small area of rocks. We are sitting there smoking cigarettes, eating sandwiches, talking loud, and this 215 lb mulie walks literally 20 feet from us exactly where that doe had taken up that hill. We could not believe it!!! These guys had been there for a week and seen nothing and here we have a huge mulie in knife distance of us. We actually sat there and talked about whether or not to shoot him (we actually had time to do that), and the mulie just stood there sniffing that doe's scent and looking at us. So we decide to shoot the deer and only had to walk about 3/4 mile back to the truck LOL.... What a day. I still can't believe that mulie stood there while we were smoking and talking as loud as we were. It was an unbelievable sight.
