My first Elk Herd last night

Postby amysprs » Thu Dec 07, 2006 11:29 pm

Im a southern grl recently moved to Colorado this past summer. Last night my husband and I were out riding and drove in the mist of an elk herd! I got to see my first bull elk feeding no more than 50 or so feet from me. I was on one hellva natrual high I tell ya. On both sides of the road there must've been over a 100 head. With the snow on the ground and the moonlight, they were very visiable. It was an awesome sight to behold. We've had some hard snows that came in over a week ago and they have come down out of the mountains I suppose.
To this southern girl, it was a sight to behold....Awesome!!!

Oh, I bet it was. About the closest to a snow I see is when they haul all the chickens off the farm. LOL, white feathers everywhere.

I have never been to Colorado but, would love to just visit. I love mountains and I love fishing fast moving clear water streams. Not to mention kyacking and canoeing! I would love to vacation there but, there is just no place like home. :)

   Now that was funny...I know all about the chicken houses, got those in MS too. You laid me out laughing with that comment. Yeah, I've fished the Colorado and cant say what had my line, all I know...is about lost my entire pole! I finally broke my line, I thought I was a goner  Alot of people go rafting down the colorado river, looks like fun and one heck of a ride.
