My Kansas Hunt

Postby KwackWacker » Fri Nov 21, 2008 2:31 pm

Here's a pic of my Kansas buck this year. Hunting out there is so much different from hunting down here in Georgia. I could write three pages of posts on the differences, but I'll narrow it down to this. The deer I hunted were not pressured, huge bodied and willing to come to a call. The other big difference I noticed was the buck to doe ratio. I saw more bucs than I did does which made the rut activity really heavy. I stuck this joker at around 7 yards with my bow. He came across a harvested corn field to a few bleats from my can call. Awesome hunt.

Awesome buck! Congrats! I live just an hour south of the Kansas state line and we have some fine bucks in our neck of the woods.

I think our state is a sleeper state, nestled right in between Kansas and Texas, we have great deer, yet the world focuses on Kansas and Texas which is great.

The buck I arrowed this year I got his attention with the can, then reeled him in with the rubberneck right afterwards. He liked hearing that can, but when he heard the tending grunt from the rubberneck he got urinated and came in. It was great.

Again, congrats on a nice buck! Any idea what he scores?

I've seen some great bucks come out of Oklahoma. It is a sleeper. I wouldn't brag to much there partner, you might find yourself with a whole lot more out of state hunters. :D
