I sighted her in for the season. I set her up for 3/4 inch high at 50 yards which puts me at 1 1/4 high at 100, 3/4 high at 150, dead on at 200 and 1 inch low at 250. All I have to do is have a good hold where I want it and let her rip all the way out to 250. I cant wait to drop one with this gun!

Depends on what caliber you buy,a 22 cal is going to be cheaper than say a 270 barrwel.Your best bet is go to your local gun shop and see what they have and more impotantly, what you can afford.

They are in the $600-700 range, depending on caliber.

What bullet/load are you using and what is the speed(fps) of it?

I was shooting factory loads, 140Gr at 2750ish fps, at first. One of my friends has the twin to mine and has a hand load worked up that I am using now. I am not exactly sure what the numbers on it are without asking him. I will get that info from him next time I see him, I need it to get what I need to load them myself anyhow.

There are just about as many barrels for the Encore, probably more considering I can get a stock for it and add a rifle or ML barrel. You cant do that with a Contender lol. The Encore frame is heavier than the Contender, so you have more options.

If that 2750 is what the box says, you wont be hitting that. That is more than likely with a 24-26" barrel. Your barrel isnt that long and you wont be going that fast. You would need to run those loads, out of your gun, across a chronograph to be sure. His chamber and yours could be different causing variations in speed too. You lose/gain approx. 100fps per inch of barrel from wat is stated by the factory tests. So if the factory ammo is showing 2750fps with a 24" bbl and yours is 14", you will be at approx 1750fps. That is just an example and all speeds are approx.

I have a .44 mag rifle and the factory ammo I was shooting showed a velocity of 1400fps, that is out of an 8" pistol barrel. I shot it across the chrono and it was almost 1800fps. The reloads I am using now, the load manual calls for 1100fps(8" bbl) and I am and getting 1750fps.

The box says one thing and the pistol/rifle says another when checking speeds. Be sure to double check the speeds so that you dont miss that deer at 250yds thinking that the info you used is correct. This leads to either you bad mouthing the ammo, the scope or all three, when it was a simple mistake on your part.
