My Son's First Buck

Postby Blackhawk357 » Mon Nov 29, 2004 10:44 pm

Hello everyone.

I'm new to the board, so I thought I'd introduce myself with a photo of my 15 y/o son's first buck. We spotted him last Saturday afternoon while working on the ranch. It was a beautiful day all the way around.

He used a .243 at about 200 yards.

Here he is:

Yep, he's a 4x4 (w/ browtines). Some folks would call him a 10 pointer. He field dressed at 225 #. Derek was shooting a 100 gr .243. A nice lung/heart shot at about 200 yards. He put another one in his chest at 250 yards to close the deal.

It was a nice warm (60 deg) mid-november day. We have seen way too many of those warm dry days in the last 6 or 8 years in eastern Montana, but we sure enjoyed this one.

Here is a closer look at the rack. I went back to the original photo and croped it differently. This is actualy the same photo, just zoomed on the head.
