I am relatively new to bow hunting and yesterday I "hit" my first buck. Unfortunately, my balance in the tree stand was not the best and I shot my buck in the left leg. I'm fairly certain that the leg was broken because as the buck ran away, he was stumbling and the left leg was spinning around in circles. I waited almost 2 hours before I went searching for the deer which, due to my hunting spot, headed into farm hedge-rows surrounded by crp grass fields. My search was in vain and I feel bad about the whole experience. Can anyone offer me some advice on how far deer can travel on three legs and, if a major vein is severed in the leg, can these types of wounds be lethal?
Thank you.
