Need broadhead info

Postby Brumby302 » Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:03 pm

I've only been hunting for 2 years, although I've accompanied my husband for many years. This year I decided to try my hand at a bow. Being a small framed female, my poundage is low. I have a Micro Midas 3 set at 40 pounds. My question is this; for this light bow what broadhead should I use for maximum damage at the slow speed that this bow shoots? Also what is the best grain to get the best results?

I would suggest a 75-85gr head based on your light draw weight. I would also suggest a 3 or 4 blade head, something like a 3 blade Muzzy/Muzzy MX, 3 blade Wasp Bullet/hammer, 4 blade Slick Trick, etc.

You should be fine with any broadhead choice as long as you dont go overboard with weight and cutting diameter. Muzzy's will be the most affordable with 6 heads coming in a pack compared to most that only have 3 per pack. Stay away from expandables and you should be good to go. Good luck and put in the practice in the off season.
