Can anyone help me with a Michigan private land question? Here is the problem. I want to hunt on private land that has two owners and one has given me written permission to hunt and the other says that we can't hunt. The owners are divorced and don't get along. Do I legally need both owners to hunt there or is only one owner enough. Also can I put up tree stands with only one owners permission. I have gotten several conflicting answers and need to know what the law says fast. I only have one day till the season opens. Any help or direction would be great.
That's a tough one, but being you don't have permission from both I wouldn't hunt there. You are just asking for trouble from the other land owner who obviously doesn't want you in there. You don't want to spend deer season dealing with game wardens, or an irate land owner or worse.
Well that is a big problem, because I don't have any other spot set up to hunt. We got permission last year and didn't use the land, but I lost my old hunting spot after 16 years and now I am stuck with this or nothing.
Oh man that is a tough situation right there. I know how it feels to lose hunting ground you have been on your whole life. I don't know if there is a right answer here. I personally just wouldn't want to tick off the other land owner you know. Like I said super tough call here. I hope you get things worked out and get on some deer.
I have been hunting in Ohio for a number of years and have recently run into some posted signs in areas that I thought were public land. The signs are on live trees which I also thought was illegal. I found a great web site called Myhuntinglands.com and the land which is posted is actually public land. What should I do? Thanks
As a general rule of thumb,,the one that resides on the land is the one that the local police will go with. I myself would try and find some public land or something,,you are only asking for problems.
