need opinion on a old 303 british rifle

have a chance on getting an old british ,thinking on putting a scope on it. Would this be a good all round gun for moose and deer

I had a British .303 once. It is a shoulder thumper and I think it would do fine. I would take it and have it drilled and tapped for a scope. The mounts that I saw and had didnt want to stay on that well.
