Need some advice

Postby hound_frm_hell » Wed Nov 12, 2008 10:16 pm

Hello, I'm new to this forum thing, I need some advice. I have never read about this in any of the millions of articles I've read in magazines. I hunt a cut corn field on a buddys farm, I only get to hunt evenings about once or twice a week and mornings on the weekends. Now my question is, would it be a problem if I hunted the mornings but I can't get to the woods until 7:30 a.m., bout an hour after sunrise, and I could sit until about noon. With the rut coming into full swing and stealthy access to and from the stand, has anybody ever done this and CAN it work. I want to spend as much time in the woods as possible during the rut, and this is the only way to hunt mornings and noon time, is is it worth it, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

i no its kind of late to reply to your post but yes, surprisingly enough most big bucks in illinois are shot after 9 a.m most. especially in rut. those deer move all day up here in illinois

I was out last week Sunday and started walking to my stand a little before 3:00 p.m. and sure enough scared a nice four pointer 10 feet away from my path entrance. I never thought I would see deer that early, especially in such a visible area. My word of advice is you can't harvest a deer from the couch, and a late start is much better than not hunting at all. Good luck out there.
