New Arrows

Postby aputman » Thu Dec 31, 2009 7:30 pm

Just bought some new Easton carbon arrows for my compound bow and need to put the inserts in them, was wondering what sort of glue to use or if there was anything specific I need to know. All suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

That's the problem, he said to just use super glue lol. That didn't seem quite right to me so I thought I'd ask. I'm assuming I need to go to another shop and have them do it then?

Are they carbon or aluminum? If they are carbon, super glue works fine. I have used it myself in the past in a pinch, but you might want to get yourself some insert glue designed specifically for carbon arrows from a store like ----'s, Academy or another sporting goods place. If they are aluminum you need to find some glue specifically designed for Aluminum.

We use an insert glue for carbons that is a semi slow drying super glue. Super glue will work, but you will need to be fast or you will end up with an insert hanging halfway out. If you were o use a super glue, lok for one that is a gel style over the liquid kind.

If they are auminum, we use hot glue sticks. Heat the insert up, roll some of the glue on it and stick it in.... done.

P.S.- What kind of "pro shop" doesnt put your inserts in after they cut your arrows???
