New Hunter looking to learn in Northern VA

Postby estoltz » Tue Dec 14, 2010 5:40 pm

Is anyone out there interested in teaching a new hunter? I can shoot and am interested in learning. Aside from the lack of experience I also have no place to hunt. I would really like to get into the antlerless season after January 1st in Faquier or Loudoun county. If there is anyone interested in teaching a new generation please let me know.

I feel your pain brother, we all have been there! Tell ya what, not too many hunters checking in with the season in full swing. My suggestion is to check out you local sporting goods store, maybe one of the clerks can hook you up,as a rule they are big hunters and are aware of the local clubs in your area,. Most clubs allow visitors for a small fee, maybe they can give you a contact. You will need to move quickly at this point if you want to hunt this year....as the season closes the site will/should pick back up! Good Luck :D

Yeah I've pretty much written off this season for deer. But there's always squirrel and rabbit. I'm going to go out Dec 31st come hell or high snow and see what I can find at Thompson WMA.

Two trains of though when hunting WMAs, get there early and let the late comers push game to you.... "take a hike". Most folks that hunt WMAs will not get too far off the beaten path. Pick a place deep and chances are you will have to to your self! Be careful, you will not know who is in the woods with you,so keep an eye out!
