Take it and shoot it and you wont get 360fps. It will be fast, but not what is stated. IMO, everybody gets hyped up about the IBO speed and 90% of hunters dont shoot IBO. I wish more bow manufacturers would state the AMO speeds also. These are more realistic speeds for the "average" bow hunter.

On a side note, it appears that their has been a little copying of design here....

I have shot the Mathews Reezen its pretty darn quick more vibration than the past few models. But its give and take if want the speed you sacrifice smoothness and noise.

I think Mathews has had a lot of leading technology, you could look at almost all of the bows and say they copied from someone. On the other hand, Mathews did go away from their solocam and single limb designs, which is unusual. I also think the overall speed of the bow would still be much faster than most. Right now i shoot the mathews switchback LD. It's amazingly smooth and quiet, wouldnt trade it for anything, and it shoots about 285 fps so im satisfied. However it would be ia huge comparison to shoot the new Monster.

Mathews bows are still only singe cam!! This is a mcpherson bow by mathews. You can go to the website and he makes that really clear. The IBO on all bows are exagerated. The monster is fast but the monster xlr8 is the one claiming 360fps. I shot it and it is fast but you have to give up brace height to get the speed. This makes it a much harder bow to shoot. The reezen is nice and very quiet. I shoot a drenalin and I thaught it may have been quieter than my bow.

I havent shot the switchback ld but I have shot the drenalin ld and I think it was a little more quiet than the reezen but not sure. All these new bows are so quiet compared to the bows of the past that it isnt funny. They are just light years ahead in technology and yet you can still killa deer with a long bow. *lol* Makes you wonder why in the hell we spend so much money!!!!

Postby unclepudge » Sun Jul 26, 2009 5:44 pm

I just picked up the new reezen and I love it it shoots very fast and quiet and actually I feel no vibration like many forums I have read are stating,I had a hoyt ultratec xt previously and feel this bow is way faster and more accurate?

Thanks ,actually a couple friends got together today and after we shot they all were amazed with how accurate, fast, and quiet it shoots as I am a beginner for the most part and shot 5 arrows in a 50 cent size pattern and actually one said I made up his mind on getting the same bow and he is now going to buy one this week.

They are a great bow. All of them are nice but expensive. But you get what you pay for. It's like I always say. You have to like it more than your money!!!!! Your friend will not be disapointed.

I had an opportunity to shoot the Monster the other day. The set up I shot seemed heavy, but it could have been all the junk my buddy had on it. It shot nice, a little loud but you sort of expect that out of the super fast bows.

I buy/shoot bows that feel good to me and kill deer, brand names mean nothing.

There is no way in hades that I would spend that kind of cash on a bow. I dont care if it had a deer magnet built in that pulled a huge buck in against its will anytime i turned it on. Well, maybe if it had that....but um yeah, I dont pay that much for my bows. My reasonably priced PSE kills deer just fine. I know many many guys that still hunt with bows built in the 80s and they kill deer every year.

I really feel all that was being said is that people shouldn't think that they must have the newest or fastest bow or to be stuck on a brand name and that its more important to have a bow that fits you well and works well for you.

Occasionaly we have someone come here that is hooked into thinking they must have that bow that has top of the chart speed and each year they must have that newest fastest bow and I think its cool that you don't, I also agree its fun to splurge once in a while and buy that new toy (I know I do it also). LOL

So I say 'Enjoy' and have fun.

I feel the same way, I am new to the sport figured if I spend a good amt. of money it should last a while, I personally am totally satisfied with my new reezon compared to the last bow I used and could care less how much it cost or what the mathews haters think, there are alot of hoyt, pse, and other makes that people prefer so stick with them and enjoy the sport.

Exactly. I wasnt even directing my comment toward anyone in particular, its just my opinion. No need for anyone to take offense to it.

BTW, Im not a hater of anything. I refuse to spend the price that ANY of the manufacturers want for their top end bows. I shoot reasonably priced bows that feel comfortable. There is absolutely no need to shoot the high fps that they keep advertising, its nothing more than a marketing ploy.

Yeah, but you wouldnt want one, everytime I try one, it seems to have the wrong polarity, so the deer literally run away from it.

Okay, so what we need to do is let you have the magnet and I'll set up a stand in the opposite direction from you. Perfect deer drive.

I just sold my Bowtech Admiral bow. Took a little lost on it, but I am getting the PSE Omen. I shot it and it's quieter than the Admiral. Admiral is a well balanced bow, but PSE just packs an extra bang to their set up not to mention their customer service is very good!

Mathews big thing is "solo cam" and that dual cam bows were outdated and no good. The Monster is a bad arse lookin bow, and shoots fast but what is Mathews trying to pull? Figure it out. Solo cam or not. Sacraficing quality to make a super fast bow. Not good.

The Monster is a McPherson Series bow. That is why it is a dual cam bow. It is/was designed by Matt McPherson who, as you proably know, owns Mathews, Inc.
