New to bowhunting

Postby vahunter2256 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 5:54 pm

not really new, getting back into it is a better explanation. 09 will be the first season in about 5 years I will bow hunt and years ago I was hunting with a hand me down bow and limited lessons. Anyway, I am wanting to get a nice bow, but cant afford to give up $600 on a package bow from PSE, Diamond ect. well I was in Gander Mtn and saw a nice Parker bow which is made in VA and the guy I was talking to said its a great bow for the money. Does anyone have one? thoughts and comments welcome

Welcome to the DHC forum.

Parker is a good decent bow for the money, it doesn't take a $500-600 dollar Matthews, PSE, Hoyt, etc to kill deer and Parkers are considered a good bow for someone getting into compound bows.

I don't own one but from what I understand they are a good 'bang for the buck' bow.

If someone here owns one and can give you tips on which Parker model bow is best then great but barring that you might want to visit the Cabelas website, they carry the Parker brand and have 'user/buyer reviews' from people/hunters like you and me, many have written reviews on the bows there.

Parker

Postby shooter49 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:46 pm

I am brand new to bowhunting and archery. I found a leftover Parker at a local dealer for a song. ($150). I find it very user-friendly, draws smoothly, forgiving, and the like. I have easily found the cams I needed to shorten the draw length. There seem to be quite a few Parker dealers around (three within an hour of me), which I think is good for a newbie who may need parts. Check Archerytalk.com's classifieds and ask your local pro shops for hold-overs before you pay retail. Bass Pro also stocks Parker. Best of luck, and I hope you have as much fun as I am. Come on, October!
Leave it better than you found it.

Hell with October, I get to start in September....and the whole reason I got back on archery is b/c we have an extended anterless deer season that runs until March 26th!!!! def. cant wait till next year

You can narley pull my bow from my hands from august 15th to mid february!!! We are allowed to shoot them to may 15th but they are way to far along with the little ones in them!
