New to finding a good location. Recommended places anyone?

Hello everyone,

This year I plan to take my son upstate NY to go deer hunting. My wife and I had gotten a divorce and finally after almost two years of paying lawyer fees I have finally gotten my visitation schedule. I know I shouldn't be airing out my dirty laundry here but I am really excited about this and can't wait to finally go away with him. My son is very excited himself. I've hunted deer in the past as a kid but it's been a while and I am wondering if any of you pros will be so kind as to share a good location to hunt preferably deer or other big game in NY. We live in Long Island and plan to hunt with a rifle. I am willing to travel 3-4 hours upstate NY from here. Any nice places guys to stay at and/or hunt? I need to renew my license, but do I need any permits or anything to hunt at your recommended places? Thank you in advance and Happy Holidays.

Sorry i cant help you on the hunting situation in NY,,,but glad you chose to take your son hunting. You will both remember those times. Best of luck to both of you!
