Been posting on whitetails forum for about a week now,forgot to sign in as a newbee so here it goes.Been hunting for about 30 years,deer hunting about 25 years.Here in this county in N.C. deer was few and far between until I was about ten years old,so my father took me to game lands until the numbers around home grown to what they are now probably 35-40 deer per sq. mile.Lucky enough to have 800 + acres surrounding my home to roam on.Started trying to manage for larger bucks about 12 years ago,really dont have enough property to be sucsessful just dont shoot bucks less than 3.5 yrs of age any more.Would let them get older if they could survive the surrounding hunters and poachers but thats about as good as it gets here.Every few years someone will see a130-150 class deer but they are so pressured that boy is nocturnal,but I have managed to take a few 4.5 and one 5.5 220lb monster.Became self employed 11 years ago to spend more time in the woods.Never hunted outside N.C.,God willing one day I'm gonna find my way to Canada and take me one of them dark horned giants.Got to have your dreams to keep it real!
