New To Oklahoma, deer hunting help

Postby dk00021 » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:01 pm

Hi Guys,

I am graduating from a college in Georgia soon and have accepted a job in tulsa oklahoma. I love deer hunting and was wondering if you guys could give me a few pointers. Down here we have hunting clubs where groups of guys get together and lease out land together to hunt on. I was wondering how most of the deer hunting is done in oklahoma, is it mainly clubs or do you have to know someone who owns farmland? I love deer hunting and would hate to have to give it up because I dont know where to hunt, I have never hunted public land before so I'm a little off base with that too. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

I've lived in Tulsa most of my life. Rest assured you won't have to five up hunting. Here we basically just lease land to hunt, by yourself or with a group. Craiglist and the classifieds is the best way to find new leases. Also, honobia, and 3 rivers in the kiamichi mountains in s.e. Oklahoma has some outstanding deer/hog and turkey hunting for like $40 a year. I took a pope and young there 3 years ago...but I have seen some huge deer down there, just out of bow range. I have went down there to muzzle load last 2 years, I haven't had any luck then, but I could have killed smaller bucks and does if I had wanted. Hope this helps.
