Just wanted to introduce myself, im new to the site and enjoy reading the input and output of others here. All in all its been a good hunting season and I truely feel blessed with the 3 bucks I picked up this season. I've hunted on my grandfathers place now for 3 years and seen more doe's than bucks in the past years. This year we planted a cover crop of clover and a total of 7 bucks have been harvested just this year alone. How did all of you do this year?

I'm surprised when I hear how other states allow for more then one Buck to be taken. In Ohio we are only allowed 1 although we are trying to get the population down they want us to take out the Does. (which makes more sense)

If I had your setup I would be growing racks and taking Does or 3 year olds and up.

Clover is a good Deer crop they can use it durring the winter when food is hard to find, (here anyway)

As for my deer kill I'm a bit picky and I'm just now deciding which Buck I'll try to take. I'm going for my 5th year in a row trophy and passed up several 130 class deer thus far.

Just one here in Kansas. :D I couldn't even get that done this year, too picky. Should've went ahead and taken one! Course then I'd been crying when Mr. Big came along and I'd already filled my tag. Last year is still fresh in my mind. :D

We're allowed 2 Does and I'll take my 2 the later part of January. I have a bad doe to buck ratio, I wouldn't be surprised that my area has a 10 to 1 difference, (maybe not that bad) I saw Bucks fighting yesterday and the day before while chasing does. I think there's a lot of unbread deer and I'll have a 2nd rut. If I could just get rid of the extra doe I could enjoy some really good rut activity, and calling them in would be easeir. Anyone wanting some doe action you're welcome to call me 740-927-roof.

As for not taking the 130 Bucks, I'm hoping I did the right thing, at worse they'll be bigger next year.

Thinkin you need to set up a couple mock scrapes and prepare for a little rattlin.

yep I think you're right! I was thinking of putting out drippers over mock scraps for a few days then hunt with a decoy while bleating, young buck grunting, and rattleing. These bucks were really going at, I was surprised, but then again if they have all those does around them they don't need to use up a lot of energy chaising them durring the main rut a few weeks back and maybe thats why they have the energy to fight.
