Nice elk picture

A buddy from work lives near a guy who has a nice big piece of land where he raises whitetail and elk. Here is a picture of a nice elk he has.

Yeah, I went to put the image in my posting with HTML code (which I enabled in my profile) but when I go to edit the size, it still says HTML is OFF. I will change the size of the picture when it allows me. Sorry about the link, I wasn't promoting on purpose, I only put the link for copywrite purposes. I'll read those rules too.

I know you didn't do it on purpose Bro! Thanks for understanding and being a gentleman! It is greatly appreciated!

It's a great pic! Very nice elk. So, he was on your buddy's friends ranch? He's looking mighty tasty! You liable to find a pile of bones here the next time you swing thru!

Yes, this big boy is on a buddy's, neighbors ranch. I said the same thing when I saw the picture. My buddy said that he was talking to the guy about target practice with his compund bow, and the guy said he wanted to show him something. The guy picked up a bucket and hit his hand around inside the bucket (like a ringing bell). Then all of the sudden, my buddy said he heard a loud crashing noise coming from the other side of some buches. This huge beast thrashed through the brush and came out on their side with branches hanging from his antlers. The bucket was his feed bucket and my buddy said it was one of the most intense things ever having this thing come thrashing through the brush and stand right in front of him eye to eye.

P.S. And yes, it looks like good eatin' to me too.

Thats what my buddy said, he said he left a skid mark on the underside of his under whites. He said it was really intense, and he was in shock. I would be too, even though I have never hunted elk it would be a sight to see. Makes me want to go elk hunting.

i got family in jasper arkansas( 2 miles down the road from hwy 7 bridge crossing the buffalo river) (actually they have the little buff in there back yard lol). and i went whitetail hunting up there and a week later they spotted a cow elk with a calf walking out on the hwy from a trail i had hunted the week before. i never seen one but would like to, i just havent been at the right place at the right time i guess. my brother came face to face with an elk cow while canoeing up at erbie landing at jasper, luckily it didnt attack .

Yeah I'm sure elk hunting is fun here in the east, but I can only imagine how it is in the west. Out in the open brush fields, with a guide, and a big bugle call. Sleeping in 10 x 10 tents around a campfire in the middle of nowhere. Sounds like a fun hunt to me!

My first encounter with an elk was while I was stationed in Colorado in the Army. I was walking out to my car in the parking lot, looking down as I dug for my keys in my pocket. I looked up and a bull and cow were standing right in the middle of the parking lot, along with a mule deer buck. I was shocked and just stood there for a few seconds as they ambled off into the hills. I never again saw elk that close to the barracks, it was a once in a lifetime thing!

Another time, near Telluride, Colorado, we were driving down a really dark road with the lights off (uhh....we were a little tipsy being very stupid, would never do something like that again). All of a sudden we started hearing bugles (very spooky sound if you've never heard it). A whole herd of Elk proceeded to cross the road right in front of us, probably thirty of them. Needless to say we threw the lights on after that!

Elk Farm

Postby RemingtonMan » Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:20 pm

I know exactly where the guy who owns the elk farm lives. He raises them for the velvet and sells it to people overseas for use in medicine. He is about 5-10 minutes from Okeana,Ohio.
