I usually hunt in the Covelo area. Anybody else hunt there?

I'm from Redding and still hunt the northwest side of the state every year. My buddy and I hunt in and around Hayfork. I have never been to your neck of the woods, but have heard good things. I have a little over a week to hunt California this year (I have an Elk tag for second rifle in Colorado) and am planning to find a place to hike into. Haven't started looking for a trail yet, but Im interested in the Yola Bolies and Trinity Alps. I have considered transfering to your area, actually closer to Willows or Clear Lake. Just haven't got serious about it yet.

Good luck with that Elk tag. That should be a kick.

Its a big kick. I go there for two reasons, meat from a cow and horns from a big Muley. Last year i patterned a 35" 4x4 for 3 days. Every evening he would cross on the same path, at the same time, with the same does. The day I went up to intercept him, he crossed early. It was alittle overcast that day and I think the clouds made it alittle darker and screewd up his time clock. We got up tot he top of the hill and spooked the herd. then I killed a cow. It worked out good anyway.

Just got back from scouting and saw 3 bucks in the area I'll be hunting. I went over there just to check and make sure all the roads were still good and the campground was okay but I was able to check out my spot. I should have brought my bow. The buck walked out and just stood there looking at me.
