Postby cthuntin56 » Wed Jan 02, 2008 8:17 pm

when I hunt with a rifle i use my grandpa's old 30-40 krag and even though it is 70 years old it is in great condition and when u shoot a deer it has the knockdown power to take down a rhino and also it can shoot very far and still be accurate but im just wonderin is it time to upgrade to a new modern age rifle????

As long as you can still find a good variety of ammo for it, I would keep using it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Keep the tradition alive, teach a kid how to hunt.

It's totally up to you. If that gun gets the job done, and like Kwack said, you can find ammo for it, keep using it. But then again maybe you want a new gun of your own.

Keep buying ammo. If you ever get started buying new rifles, you will never stop. I have had rifles for less than a week before they were gone again. It's not that I didnt like them, its just that I would find someone with a gun I wanted more than the one I had.
