Our weekend hog hunt!!!!

Postby bambeklr » Tue May 20, 2008 11:04 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok I am back from my hog hunt. I am so tired it is crazy. I havent had any sleep. Maybe 5 hours in 2 days of climbing mountains during the day and partying at night.

Me and my friend had a great time. I connected on a farrel hog that weighed in at 600lbs. He was black and white. My friend stuck a red farrel hog that was 400lbs. We had a blast. This wasnt my first hog hunt but it was for my friend. He was amazed how tough these animals are. His hog ran off with a perfect heart shot, dumping like niagra falls. Then didnt go down for about 4 minutes. He triued to stalk up for another shot but couldnt get it.

My hog was 32 yards and quartering away. " Perfect " I drew and he turned broadside. I couldnt complain then either. I took the shot and smacked him behind the leg but not as low as I wanted. It was a perfect double lung but I wanted heart. He ran off and my arrow was laying on the ground where he was standing. My friend chuck got my arrow as I followed the giant. He handed me the arrow and I inspected it. I re-nocked the arrow and stalked up for another shot. I took the shot and it was 2 inches from the other hole. He ran off again. He was now leaking very good!!! But it told him nothing. I again got my arrow off the ground and re-nocked it. Once again I stalked up to about 20 yards and drilled him quartering away. Tis one was perfect right through the heart. He went 10 yards and fell on my arrow.

We had 2 hogs down and memories we wont forget.

It may be my computer. I'm logged onto a government network and sometimes it blocks pictures. I'll check when I get home.

The pics are there. WOW, those are some nice hogs. Amazingly tough! I think that must be a record...anyone else ever shoot the one animal three times with the same arrow? Nice job bambeklr.

Wow what a story and some good shooting as well.

To answer your question ten point.I never hit the same animal twice with the same arrow.but do have a storyI once shot a doe got a pass through and she fell within five yards. With one arrow left i decided to shoot the button buck that was watching her flop around.I hit high and spined him.Now hes down there going crazy and i have to put him out of his misery so i climbed down an knocked the arrow from the doe.some how he managed to flop into some real thick stuff and i missed with the second shot. Now i had to crawl in the thicket get the arrow again and finally get a clean shot.It was something that should have been on the three stooges. After it was over i sat on the ground and laughed at myself for 5 minutes.

Moral of the story.Always take more than two arrows in the woods.Unclean shots arent something to be proud of but they do happen.

I was right. Dadgum government filters. I don't know why they won't let me look at bloody pigs at work. :D Anyhow, nice pigs Bam, real nice. Where'd you go to run them down? Oh and was your buddy ticked about something? He doesn't look too happy about getting a pig. :D

Bambklr what kind of broadheads where you using on the hogs? Also what state did you kill them in. The one hog looks like a tamworth and the one on the on bottom a durock, they didny really look like wild hogs but good shootin and enjoy the pork.

I was using trophy ridge bunker busters. We were in pa. They were suppose to be ferral hogs or called carolina hogs. Supposidly trapped in carolina. But hey whatever they were fun and we got some pork.
