peep site noise- Rubber tubing.

A bow hunting forum for all kinds of hunting with a bow.

peep site noise- Rubber tubing.

Postby silvergts1998 » Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:36 pm

I think my bow would be allot quieter if I didn't have the tubing on the peep site. If I take that off, My peep would probably be off right? (No self align)? So is there anything I can do to keep it quiet? Has anyone used string instead of the rubber? Would that work?

Ideas appreciated.

Take the tube off and see if the peep stays aligned when the bow is drawn.

If it doesn't (and probably won't) you can always buy a (Shurz a Peep).

Your present peep is probably installed by splitting the bow string in half whereas the 'Shurz a Peep' is designed to be installed by splitting the bow string strands into thirds.

If the 'Shurz a Peep' doesn't align when the bow is drawn you can move an individual strand on the bow string from one notch to another on the peep to pull the peep sight around and make it line up better.

There should be instructions on installing and adjusting it included if you buy one.

Does that peep site do any damage to the bow string?

Not that i've ever heard of, I have the same type you have with the black surgical tubing to align it but that 'Shurz a Peep' has been out for a while now 'several years' and i've never heard of it wearing a string out.

Keeping the string waxed will help it live longer also.

My old bow had the ring type peep on it and it was great, never had a problem with it. My new one has the rubber tube type one on it, I hate it, it makes noise and will be removed pretty soon and replaced with a ring type peep.

I had the samething happening to me. I went totally away from the rubber tubing and added a vaportrail string and a G5 peep. No more problems so far.
