Pirate Snipers?

Holly cow thats some badass shooting!!!!From one boat to another in rough seas and over a couple hundred yds.Does anyone know what they might have been shooting.I was just thinking it was a standard rifle. But a co-worker seems to think maybe it was something computerized to calculate everything.

As an ex Army Ranger sniper I can tell you they were shooting 308 cal rifles, each stock built for the shooter. The only computers used were their brains. On a water shot you time your shot with the fall of the wave, not the rise.I have made 2 such shots but the Seals train for this kind of shot constantly. While hard to shoot that, its donr and with practice the better you will get.The first time,I failed to hit the tango in question. The second shot, put his lights out and on the way to his 72 virgins.

The 308 was actually my guess because i heard somewhere before that that was what they used.I didnt know they were custom built for the shooter though.I can comprehend the timing of the wave and with practice could see myself pulling it off if the target was on land. But the fact that they were shooting at something on another wave that may not be moving in sync with thiers seems impossable to me.I guess practice makes perfect.I was curious about a couple of other things that you can probably answer.Do you think they had more than one guy shooting at each target. And also i never heard if they actually shot at the fourth guy and how he managed to survive. In case you cant tell i am toatally amazed at this whole situation.Im just glad to see the capt. came out o.k.And hope they can get ahold on the problem before someone does get hurt.

I did see that when you posted it.Id say it'll definatley get the job done.Did you buy that or did you actually get to keep it when you got out? since it was built just for you.

they were some pretty BA shots. I saw on the military channel where they train the marine scout/snipers for helicopter to ground shooting. That would be pretty tough.

When shos of this nature are made the weapon is in rest, its not an off hand shot. But still difficult to make just the same.Timing is key in any long range shot or in this case a waterborne shot.No I wasnt able to kep the rifle,I do have the stock though. Each shooter is measured for butt stock lenght, foregrip lenght ect.It may take a couple tries before the shooter is comfortable with the set up.On mine the cheek piece was adjustable because I am a left handed shooter.before I tried my first waterborne shot,I must have fired 1,000 rounds before I felt comfortable enought to try it.Shot one was a clear miss, dont think I even hit the water.Shot two was a center mass shot that sent Hadji home for good.Head shots arent normally made except ata med to short range.Center mass are better shots because you have a bigger target.

Yeah i didnt think they were shooting free hand.I guess that water shot is like when i was a little kid.I couldnt hold even the smallest gun steady so i got good at sqeezing the trigger as it went by the target. After a while i was pretty deadly.

My personal best out of a boat is approx, 50 yard at a squirrel with a Ruger 10/22,,older brother shot and missed,,told him give me that rifle. He said i qualified expert in the army, and i missed,,you will never hit it. Needless to say,,,1 shot 1 kill. All i heard was something that sounded like a curse word,,,,something hole. LOL.

I had something similar happen a couple weeks ago but not on a boat.I went shooting with a couple young boys that live near me.When i pulled up they were shooting at clay pigieons with a 223 at about 200 yds and missing.I kinda busted thier chops and explained to them that they should be able to do that with no problem and that i was there to drive tacks. Finally after about 10 shots each i took a turn and smoked one on the first shot. They started listening to me after that and started hitting them.
