I wish NC would have stiff fines and laws concerning wildlife,It is almost as if they don't care as much down here.We barely have a wildlife officer for each county.Spring of 2008 gamewarden caught the fella that hunts the property next to mine shooting a turkey over bait. This hunter shoots alot of the 2.5 year old bucks that we are trying to manage to trophy status even after all of uor hunting party has talked with him about this management helping him see larger deer also.I mean he only has about 100 acres there that we border him on three sides so it would benifit him as well, but he continues to kill these bucks from stands only 50 yards from my prop. line.So when he was caught with the turkey I thought mabee the deer would have a break this fall of 2008,WRONG,being he co-operated with the officer they let him keep his hunting license.I WAS SHOCKED! Here in NC we dont even tag big game animals just punch a reprt card that comes with our license and keep it until animal is consumed.Only reporting done is over the phone to an auto-mated system.Don't even have tags any more to put on the deer.If this guy in the article would have shot those deer here in NC,I doubt he would have faced any fines other than court cost and would certainly have not lost his hunting license for three years,if at all.Yea they shood throw the book at this guy,get as much money as they can from him, take his weapon and put him on probation to the effect that if he has any more game related infractions the rest of his hunting life ,take hunting privaliges from him permanantly. These kind of people are thieves taking from all of us that are trying to enjoy uor resources legally. The problem(I've heard) with NC is that the Gov. over the resources concerning deer in NC is in bed with the auto-insurance companys that want all deer dead!
