Power Max

What have any of you heard about the new Power Max Bonded ammo from Winchester? All I know is that it is geared towards the whitetail hunter at a very affordable price. But are they sacrificing performance for cost. I noticed a box is very affordable. Let me know any info you guys have.

I normally shoot the balistic silver tip supreme, but they aint real easy on the pocket. If these new bullets are just as good I may buy a box.

Those are new bullets that just came out, I doubt that hardly anyone has actually used them on game at this point.

From what I've read of reviews it was mixed on grouping on a target shooting, some claimed that ammo shot tight groups and some said it was bad.

I always advise people to use bonded bullets on big game regardless to what brand ammo they use, the bonded bullet staying in one piece, mushrooming and driving through the body is what you want and bonded bullets do exactly that.

In those reviews...are people mentioning what caliber and gun they are using...??? not all ammo goes well with all guns. I am just really curious cause they cost almost half of most other ammo offered from Winchester...

All guns with rifleing react different to different brands and types of bullets so the only way to know for sure if your rifle will like that ammo is to try some.

I do recall that a couple that I read mentioned their rifle and some didn't so I don't remember who said what.

I might buy a box some time and try them versus my Nosler Partition loads just for a comparison in my .270 Browning Bar.

Kaiser,

As you mentioned and know, each rifle prefers certain ammo. Try some and see what it does. If it doesnt shoot, chalk it up to something learned about your rifle and what it likes and doesnt like.

Alabama, what caliber are you shooting that you need a vise???

I didn't need the vice, I just used it for heck of it. The caliber is 30 .06. It dosen't kick much at all. But i figured why not take human error out of the equation and see which load does better.

I went this morning to the range with the new power max from Winchester. They shot tighter groups at 100yrds....but they were all about 1.5 to 2 inches lower on target than the regular ammo I use. I will return on monday and fix that....Overall they shoot well....but the true test comes in 3 weeks....
