Question what you would do when up in your stand with deer all around an no bow:

I got up in my stand and tying myself down on the tree. My bow was still on the groud and deer came in about 15 feet of me. They would not leave. So I slowly raised my bow up while one doe was watching. It didn't seem to bother her much. She then saw me and snorted which then I saw about 4 whitetails flip up and bolt.

So here's the question.

What do you do when you are surrounded by deer and no bow in hand? Just sit it out and don't give away your position?

If your position is given away do the deer remember this? Do I need to move my stand? Or do I give it some time and don't show up at the tree I got busted on for a week? (I am using a climber stand by the way).

Looking back I think I should have just sat tight. There was a large buck about 8-10 points in the background watching I think. It trotted off after all the doe(s) took off with it's tail up. It didn't run..just walked off.

So my main concern is that the deer now know where I am at and hoping I don't need to set up else where. I hope they have short tem memory like me.

Without a doubt, your best bet is to sit tight should this happen again; however, it is unilkely that this in and of itself will cause the deer to change their pattern. In addition to this, from what you said, it doesn't appear that you spooked the buck as it just ran off after the does which is good news for you. I would let the area rest several days and head back up there as the rutting action should be getting into full gear in the near future.
Although this saying might be a little cliche, it's so true... hunting is not just a passion, it's an obsession.....it's part of what defines my life.....and I wouldn't have it any other way!
