Remington ??

Postby Bullet74 » Sat Nov 19, 2005 4:10 pm

Hi all, my first post on the site. I've done a lot of research on a good all around rifle, I hunt Black Bear, Moose and Deer here in Canada, I am currently using an old 303 British I bought for $100 but it needs to go. I'm very interested in the Remington 7400 in a 308, what do you think? Pros and cons.

Thanks

Bear being very dangerous and moose very large I would go no less than 30/06. 300 win mag would probably be better, Massive energy great trajectory excellent cartridge for all named hunts

A 308 is a great gun. I would put it up against almost anything and it do just as good if not better. The ballistics on the 308 is almost identical to the 30 06. It has excellent knock down power and is very accurate.

If you are going to be having shots at the 400+ yard range, I would condider the 7mag or the 300. Very accurate at longer distances!

There probably is a good reason why snipers use 308's!

I would say the .308 too. It is a great caliber for all game and has enough umph to to the job on most game in North America. I would go with a bolt action instead of a semi-auto. You will tend to get better accuracy.
