removing the barrel

can I remove the barrel from a bolt action rifle, such as a remington 700 or savage, to put in a custom barrel; or do you need to get it sent away to have custom barrels put in?

sure you can. The problem arises in headspace and lining up the sights. There is an excellent gunsmith in Bristol florida which isn't that far from you. They offer full line gunsmithing. Old Dominion Gun Works 850.643.5213 (Cliff or Lamar).

id say take it to a gunsmith too. i wouldnt want to try and put one on and end up messing it up. good luck.
