Rifle hunting for hubby

Postby hubbysahuntin » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:21 am

I've been getting my husband a gun for Christmas every year for the past 5 years but I'm running out of ideas. I'm hoping some of you rifle owners can help me out. Here is a list of what he owns right now.....oh and he never talks about wanting shotguns.

Rem Model 7 --- 7mm-08 25th anniversary (so he doesn't hunt with it)
Rem Model 700 BDL--- 30-06
Rem Model 700 CDL-SF--30-06
Winchester Model 70 Featherweight---7mm-08
Rem model 1187 Premier---12 gauge shotgun
Marlin Model 917v---17HMR
Marlin Model 30as---30-30 lever action
Savage Model 220B---410 shotgun
Stevens Model 125---22

Muzzleloaders
Thompson Center Encore---50 cal
Thompson Center Omega stainless---50 cal
CVA Hawken----50 cal
Knight Wolverine---50 Cal

I have no idea what to get him....so he's actually got only 1 7mm-08 that he hunts with so should I get another one of those? I really need some ideas! lol Thanks in advance!

I have always been partial to pistol caliber rifles. My M92 has put a lot of meat on the table over the years, and no gun collection is complete without a Big Boy.

Hmm, I wouldn't get him another 7mm, but something close but different maybe a .300 Weatherby Magnum. If you want something that he doesn't have maybe get him something chambered in .308 or even a .25-06 would be nice to add. If you want to get him something comparable to the .30-06, which it appears he likes, maybe a .270 would be nice since they shoot a lighter bullet at a flatter trajectory.
