Rifles in 35 Remington

Postby cullbuck » Sun Nov 16, 2008 7:15 pm

I'm hung up on the 35 Remington as a close-range brush gun. I hunt in areas where shots are 25-75 yards normally and I've killed deer with my 270 and my 7mm-08, but I think the 35 Remington would have better knock down power in close quarters. I'd like a small, lightweight bolt action in 35 Remington but I don'y think one exists in a bolt action. I have looked at the Marlin 336 lever action but I really don't wan't a lever action.
I'm a fan of the "impact shot"!

35 remington

I have a remington model 760 pump in 35 rem and it is a great in the woods rifle. short fast and accurate and hits plenty hard. Woudn't trade it for anything in the woods.

Savage used to make a pump in 30-30 and 35 rem. I believe its the model 170, I should know this cause I have one in 30-30. Decent rifle but it has a 22 inch barrel on it, pretty sure the 35's have 22 inch barrels on them too. I suggest you look around on gunbroker.com. If you ever do find a bolt action 35 rem make sure to post the make and model on here, I would love to have one.

I agree with Rogo. I have a 336 .35 that I killed my first buck with (210 lb 9 pointer). The gun is great.

But Remington puts out a darling of a gun. Each year they release an 18.5 inch barreled .35 remington in the model 7600 pump. You can't beat it. Up here in Maine , in the woods I love my 06 carbine pump. great handling

A .308 would be a good choice also. The ammo might be a tad more readily available also.

bolt action 35

Postby rogo » Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:21 pm

Back in 1964 Remington made a Model 600 bolt action in 35 remington. Do a web search for bolt action 35 rem and you should be able to find it. Also look up Remington rifles and see if they still make one.
