Safe muzzle load gun procedures????

Postby hockeymanrangers » Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:56 pm

I have a question regarding when officially is a muzzle load gun loaded or not loaded. When coming back from a day of hunting and not taking any shots. Do I have to take my powder and sabot out before taking it in my vehicle?? I obviously take my primer out, but do I have to take the powder pellets and sabot out. I live in PA incase it depends on what state I you live in. Thanks for any help you may offer.

In IL, a muzzleloader is unloaded when the cap is removed. You should be able to find the info at the PA state DNR website.

In Ky where I live I think the gun only has to have the cap or flint removed.I may be wrong but I never load and rack my gun in the truck.I wait till I get where I am going before charging the gun with powder and round. But like the man said, when in doubt dont ,load.
