Savage 10ML-IIxp, waddaya think?

Postby WhitetailSlayer » Thu Aug 24, 2006 11:56 am

Hey folks!

First, thanks for the forum, seems great!

One question, Since I've been bring down deer with my old CVA 50cal rifle, I've been looking for a better way of getting deer w/ the black powder tag at a better range. (Real tired of following that weak trail from the old ball ammo that rarely drops that deer with the first shot!)

Been thinking about a Contender, but heck, by the time you add it all up it's just too rich for my blood.

KAZAM! I run upon the description for this Savage that'll use smokeless powder (newly legal in IL) and just wanted to know....

What do you think? Is it too good to be true?

let me know.... :?:

Tried any conicals in that rifle? In that .50 Lyman of mine I shoot the REAL bullet cast from a Lee mould. If it don't drop...leaves a blood trail Ray Charles could see with his cane.
As for the in-lines...to each his own I guess. I've always been a traditional fan. That Savage 10ML...a muzzleloader without smoke is like Christmas without a tree. :wink:

LOL@ Quigs. I have heard nothing but good things about this Savage ML. I dont think you will go wrong with it, but along the same lines as Quigley, why have a ML without smoke? Next thing you know, they will be loading them from the wrong end with this new fangled thing called bullets. Then what?
Curiosity killed the cat, but I was a suspect for a while......

I understand the love of a good fly of smoke, but I am also hnting for the love of venison. Call me a lazy dog, but I really miss my rifle and the effect of that deer going DOWN when i am in the midwest and can't use it (no rifle season in Illinois).

That and I just hatewatching that old ball whizz to the right at long yardage.
