Savage rifles and trigger systems

Postby jeremykohler » Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:54 pm

I was just wondering what your thoughts were on savage rifles and there trigger systems. I just did my first trigger job and dropped trigger pull from 6lbs to a very light 3lbs. It was pretty simple a diamond hone and a set of shim washers, drill and tap. After all that only about 30 minuets now no slop or over travel and nice and crisp 3lbs :D :D

This past season I bought a new Savage 30-06 with the accutrigger and I love it.
It is so easy to adjust the trigger pull
No washers required......

But where is the fun in that as the accu trigger is nice it is not the same as a well worked trigger IMO any how I just dont care for the glock style trigger but that is just me :D

Thoughts on Savage Rifles

Postby Dettom » Fri Mar 19, 2010 6:33 pm

I have been looking at buying a new 7mm Rem Mag and have been looking seriously at Savage. The new ones seem to be a vast improvement over past years and the accu-trigger system is really nice. I had an older Savage Mod 112 V in 22 .250 and foolishly traded it for another rifle. This was pre-accu trigger and it was not a very good trigger pull at all for a varmint rig. But boy, was it accurate. It seemed to deliver five shots into pretty much the same hole with no problems. Since then, Savage seems to have really improved the overall quality of their products. My choices now are reduced to the Ruger Hawkeye and the Savage Weather Warrior. I'd say, dollar for dollar, pound for pound I'd have to give it to the Savage if for no other reason but accuracy vs. price. Their fit and finish seems to have improved quite a bit too.

I agree with you Jeremy
It does take away some of the classic feel from the trigger
