Scentless Laundry Detergent/Vanilla Extract

Postby Jbunge15 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:29 am

With deer season right around the corner i am starting wash all of my camo and get it all scent locked and ready for October 1st. Hunting is expensive already and i have recently been told that any name brand scentless laundry detergent (i.e. ALL "Free and Clear") will work as good as the big name hunting products, such as dead down wind or wild life research. I'm curious as to what other hunters feel about this topic and see if its worth saving a couple bucks. I have also heard that vanilla extract is a very attractive scent for deer. Has anyone else heard this? Do you think it is true and works? And is it worth trying?

Regular scentless laundry detergent doesn't also have UV ray blocking contents, which is very important. I spend the extra few bucks for a 3 in 1 pack which includes laundry detergent, deodorant, and spray. I purchased mine on Amazon for way cheaper than any sporting good store could offer. Vanilla does seem to work in the early season because the fall air allows for scent travel and deer are curious around this time of year. You can put some on a cotton ball or scent stick and hang it on a branch or even just pour some on the branch itself and let some fall to the ground.

Alright sounds good. I didn't know you could purchase scent eliminators on amazon, that's a great idea. Thanks or you help.
