scouting help

Postby moto » Wed Aug 10, 2011 6:02 am

I had put this up in the bow forum but thought it would be better here seeing I am hunting deer. This will be my second year hunting deer and will be hunting with my bow. I wanted to do some early season scouting as in starting this weekend. I would image that it is too early for scraps and rubs. So what kinds of things do you look for? I will be hunting from the ground so don't need to find a tree for a stand.

Moto - Here is an article on early season scouting that you may find helpful.

One of my favorite ways to locate deer is by viewing a satellite image of the hunting property. It's easy enough to find your property on Google Earth and look for funnels and pinch points. Once I feel confident that I've found a few hot spots I will then visit the area for a closer look.

Hope this helps, good luck!
