Short-Mid Range Rifles

Hey Fellas,

I am somewhat new to whitetail hunting. I have been hunting now for that past 4 years and I am still learning. I currently have a Sakko 270 and a Remington 12 gauge. I am looking for a well priced mid range brush rifle, bolt or lever action. I have had the chance to shoot a Marlin 30-30 and love it. However, I can't bring myself to spend around $400 on plus scope for either new or used when it will only be used in certain circumstances. I have also looked into a Ruger 308. Does anyone have any suggestions of places that may have it for cheaper prices? Or does anyone have any suggestions for similar rifles?

Check your local pawn shops and you might want to check gunbroker.You can find the marlin 336 or 30as for about 200.00 in some places
