shoulder shot???

Postby backwater40 » Tue Nov 02, 2010 9:24 am

shot a big buck 2 days ago and have been looking ever since. think i got it in the shoulder blade...i know i hit him around the heart/lung, but saw arrow sticking out while he was running and found it about 40 yards away, with about 10 inches broke off in him, had blood on arrow. they only other blood i could find was there at the arrow and no more. just wondering if that has happened to any of you to see if i had any chance of finding this deer.

Man that's tough to say but if you had 10 inches of arrow still stuck in him that broadhead would have to cut stuff on the inside. So there is probaly internal bleeding but with the arrow still in that's probaly stoping the blood from leaking out of the cavity. I would say the deer bleed to death somewhere but he could have ran a mile (or could 30 yds) before completely dying. You might keep a eye on the buzzards maybe you can recover the antlers aleast. Good luck and let us know what happens.
