My 12 year old son has been deer hunting with me for a couple years. This year he wants to shoot a deer himself, and I think he is mature enough to handle a shotgun. I will be with him in the stand,so he isn't going to be alone, and I have taken him target shooting quite a bit. My question is,what kind of shotgun would be good for a young shooter? I don't think he is big enough to handle the recoil of my 12 gauge remington 870,so i am thinking a 20 gauge would be more to his liking, but which model would be best and which type of action? I am not wanting to spend a bunch of money in case in a couple years he wants to spend more time with the girls instead of the four legged deer

If I could find something less then $500 including scope I would be happy. Thanks for any suggestions!! Ben
