Southern california deer

Postby BunnyGunns » Mon Oct 25, 2004 9:59 pm

I'm hunting aboard Camp Pendleton. I've hunted in AZ, CA, TN and FL. I've seen 7 deer, 2 buck and 5 doe. My question is, what is the best way to effectively take a good buck? Both bucks were spotted before/after shooting hours. What are the tricks to taking deer in Ca? Aboard base, we (military personal, vets, DoD, etc.) Can only hunt during the weekend because of troops in the field during the week. What sould I look for? I hunt by myself so I don't have anyone to help me drive the deer from their beds. There is alot of very thick brush in very steep terrain. Moving swiftly and quietly is out of the question. Somebody help me out.

You need to stop writing about things that you already know the answers to.

Never was one for drives myself. Our rifle and muzzleloading season isn't during the rut either. So I hunt from a ground blind or tree stand where they come in to feed. Find their food source and you'll find your deer.
