Squirrel hunting isnt my all time favorite thing to hunt.... mainly because i gotta cook em, my mom wont touch the things.... but when i go squirrel huntin its usually with my brother and we just walk around the woods that r congested with squirrels and shoot enough for a nice batch of squirrel and gravy
If you can't hunt with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

I use a gamo hunter sport air rifle with pba pellets. It is all I need for squirrels. I have killed them at close to 70yds. This pellet gun is bad. I wont even use a .22 anymore.

I used to use my cricket .22 then it had no accuracy and no distance and the size?!!?! way too small! Good for a 5 yr old let alone buying it for a 15 yr old! I need a new one btw any suggestions??

Marlin mod 60, Ruger 1022, lots of choices for 22 LR. I also use a shotgun early when the leaves are still on, But any 22 LR will do.

I prefer a 20ga until the leaves thin some. Then I switch to .22's. had a Marlin 39A for years, I collect .22's and single shots and levers in particular so I prefer them but Savage, Mossberg etc all make nice entry level semi auto .22's. Ive owned some of the combo guns over the years and they are good too. I shoot a few treerats every year with my bow also. In my opinion .410's are too iffy and 16-12ga's are too destructive but they will kill'em dead. I like to sneak around stopping every 50-60ft or so. If they arent up and moving good I like to call with either a bark call or distress call.

I use a Powerline .177 cal

The best way Ive found to hunt them is to put a tree betwen you and them and walk up, then pop around the side and bang.

I just shot a nice 11 1/2 inch male this way

I know some here who use .22 and .25 air rifels but its illegal. Air guns and gas guns are illegal here for game animals(all wild mammals I believe)? I had an uncle who shot alot of critters with a .22 air rifle and before he died he bought a .25 that was Chinese made and it took red fox cleanly within 25 yards or so.

I usually use a Remington 597 .22 cal.
I recently picked up a Gamo Hunter .177 air rifle and a tin of hunting pellets.
I have some wooded areas near my home that run along some other neighborhoods. Fearing I'd get in trouble for shooting a .22 back there, I thought I'd give this Gamo a try. I hope it has enough punch to send a few squirrels to the ground.
I love my: Matthews Switchback, Leupold Vendetta, Slick Trick Broadheads

I think the most fun I get from squirrel hunting is telling others (that would never think of hunting squirrels) I do it and then explain to them how great they are to eat! Growing up in Central WI, my favorite meal was squirrel, acorn squash, potatoes, squirrel gravy, wild mushrooms enough to fill a plate, and bread pudding for dessert.

August 1sr is our opener! Fried squirrel, fried taters, biscuits and goody gravy sounds awful good.
